Naples Resort Communities
Naples does not have large resort type retirement communities, where residents zip around in golf carts going to shopping and dining. But it does have many communities with year round and second home residents that are loaded with wonderful amenities.
Even the smallest community with a pool, will have the occasional get together or pot luck. For this discussion, we will define any community that has a load of nice amenities and many various scheduled events for residents as a resort community.
The majority of the Naples area resort style communities are the bundled golf communities – membership included with the home purchase. Bundled golf has it all – golf, pool, restaurants, snack bar, tennis and many different scheduled events. Golf membership required communities (if you purchase a home, then the buyer must join the club), also have those amenities. But what about the non-golf resort style communities?
The Walks refer to a series of gated communities built by Divosta, a national home builder. Divosta came up with a winning formula with the Walks. They have a town center with pools, fitness centers, tennis, cafes, post office, car wash, and many more items. There are many organized event for residents.
The Walks have very pedestrian friendly as the streets end with cul-de-sacs surrounded by water. At the end of the cul-de-sac is a pedestrian bridge that connects to other neighboring cul-de-sacs.
The Walks include:
- Village Walk was the first of the Walks, built mostly between 1995 and 1998. It has over 800 homes. Village Walk is located in a nice North Naples location.
- Island Walk came next, just two mile east of Village Walk, at twice the size with nearly two thousand homes. Island walk was built mostly between 1998 and 2003.
- Verona Walk in south Naples is the most recent Walk. The Walks kept on getting large with Verona Walks over 2,000 homes. Construction began in 2004..
- Village Walk Bonita, is just north of the Naples area in Bonita Springs.
